Many of us – Christians – have identified ourselves as churchgoers and not effective followers of Christ.
Thereby shifting the focus from the most essential of the christian walk which is a personal relationship with CHRIST. By this we mean that going to church is not enough to be referred to as a Christian. CHRISTianity as emphasis has been made here refers to somebody following CHRIST by observing the commandments, He gave to ensure a better living for all of us. Here in Africa, the scene is common every Sunday morning. Everybody going to church wearing ZE christmas clothes and waiting to be identified as the body of Christ.
Whereas in our midst are relentless liars, fornicators, adulterers and many more. Aside that day they decide as commoners say “It is the sabbath day, the day of the Lord and we ought to behave well this day”. The truth is that GOD DOESN’T NEED THAT – us going to church to fool other people and ourselves by the way on Sundays. In Galatians 4: 18 the Word clearly states that: “But it is good to be zealously affected ALWAYS in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you” (emphasis mine in capital letters).
We thereby come back with the question that brought you here, which kind of Christian are you after church services? Are you among the “doers of the word, and not hearers only?” or amid those who you keep deceiving their “own selves” – James 1: 23. We do not want you to feel judged, but by doing this we expect you to check back your life – honestly – and come back to your first love. Because indeed there is no real joy outside Him and He is forever ready to take you back Home no matter how grandiose that sin might look like.
Take a look at what He said here in Luke 15: 7: “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repententh, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance”. What a wonderful father? You just need to confess your sins, ask for forgiveness and accept Christ as your love and saviour.
